| Barachois Pond Provincial Park Freshwater swimming beaches, bird watching, mountain streams, and invigorating hikes with panoramic views. Stephenville Blow Me Down Provincial Park Magnificent views of the Blow Me Down mountains and the Bay of Islands make this park one of the most scenic locations in the area to visit. Lark and York Harbours Butter Pot Provincial Park The park covers an area of 2833 hectares of varied terrain and vegetation - forests, bogs, heaths and ponds. Hiking trails take you through forests and over barrens to a remarkable scenic view-point. St. John's Chance Cove Provincial Park A trail leads down to the coast where one can see whales, seabirds, and seals along this spectacular coast. Trepassey Dildo Run Provincial Park The parks 327 hectars provide visitors with an ideal central and convenient location for viewing all of New World Island. Trepassey Frenchmans Cove Provincial Park Situated adjacent a large barachois, sand and mud flats, mixed forest, and tidal lagoons, this park offers bird watchers opportunities to observe a diverse population of shore birds and waterfowl. Garnish JT Cheeseman Provincial Park J.T. Cheeseman has an exciting variety of natural features, ranging from bogs to rolling, forested hills. The park has an assortment of floral species. Channel-Port aux Basques La Manche Natural Environment Park This park was established because of the scenic la Manche Valley, interesting and varied habitat and vegetation, as well as the diverse bird life. South of St. John's Lockston Path Provincial Park Lockston Path falls within the Maritime Barrens Ecoregion with fir stands dominating the sheltered areas and heath vegetation common in more exposed areas. Port Rexton Notre Dame Provincial Park The park is dominated by black spruce and balsam fir, with tamarack and white Birch throughout. Peatland, shrub and heathlands interrupt the forest floor, and a variety of wildflowers from the shade-loving bunchberry to the barren-growing crowberry may be found. Gander |
Pinware River Provincial Park, Labrador The bedrock in the area around Pinware River Provincial Park is composed of a variety of very old and somewhat deformed granites. A sample of granite obtained from a small, roadside quarry near the entrance to the park has been dated at 1,466 million years old. Red Bay Pistolet Bay Provincial Park Pistolet Bay Provincial Park is part of the lowlands of the Long Range Mountains and contains stratified rocks that were deposited during the Cambrian and Ordovician periods (approximately 500 million years ago). Sandbanks Provincial Park The park is named for its undulating sand dunes and long expanses of flat, sandy beaches which are some of the most magnificent on the island portion of this province. Inland, the park is characterized by spruce-fir forest and barrens typical of the South Coast of Newfoundland. Burgeo Squires Memorial Provincial Park The park is situated on the scenic Humber River and is a popular place for salmon angling. Deer Lake T'Railway Provincial Park This island-long Park corridor provides access to many of the Island's representative natural and scenic landscapes. The Park also serves as an historical link to our past railway heritage because most of the original railbed, trestles and bridges remain intact. St. John's to Port aux Basques Torngat Mountains National Park Reserve Located at the northern tip of Labrador - above the tree line - this magnificent wilderness has zero amenities. No roads, no accommodations. Just wilderness. Up here, you must be accompanied by a park guide, and you should be prepared and experienced in wilderness travel. This is a where the Inuit have lived for thousands of years, among fjords, mountains and river valleys that will change the way you think about nature and the planet. Hike, sea kayak and enjoy.
