Crouts Way Now Open for Hardy Hikers
The colonists at Cupids cut an overland trail as an escape route from the pirates, and also to establish trade with the native Beothuks in the neighbouring bay. Henry Crout led the way, and his original route has now been re-established from Makinsons near Cupids in Conception Bay to Hopeall in Trinity Bay. Its a two-day hike and not for tenderfoot hikers, but those hardy enough to follow in the colonists footsteps will be richly rewarded with an overland, overnight hiking and camping adventure. |
