THE CARNIVAL’S DOG SLEDDING RACE: NEW FORMAT
There are now six dogs per team, for extra speed and to increase the thrills for the thousands of spectators who line the race course on its main axes, the length of St-Louis Street, Grande Allée, or on the Plains of Abraham. The Québec Winter Carnival is now part of the circuit for the Québec Dog Sledding Club (CACQ) which has a total of 10 races per year. Saturday January 28th, 2012 Grande Allée et rue St-Louis
CMQ CANOE RACE: QUALIFYING ROUND ON GRANDE ALLÉE
The ice canoe was once an essential part of the lives of the islanders and coastal dwellers of the St. Lawrence Seaway during winter. Today, we have turned this ancient way of life into a competitive activity, an extreme sport. Friday February 3 from 7 p.m. The Final will take place in the icy waters of the mighty St. Lawrence River from 1:30 p.m. on Sunday February 5.
A TOTALLY JUMPING SKI JORING COMPETITION
Ski Joring is a team discipline made up of a horse and rider and a skier. The skier is pulled by the horse using a wire and they must perform jumps, ski around cones and grab rings as quickly as possible, over a race course of 250 metres. A very colourful sport, full of excitement!
ST-HUBERT DERBY: SEVEN COUNTRIES COMPETING IN THE 9th EDITION

On February 11 and 12, about forty drivers will take part in this championship with single and double driving that will surely make for an exciting competition.
THE COLD-FX SNOW BATH
Eighty courageous men and women will show their bathing suit colours when the take 3 dips, interspersed with short breaks out of the cold, on Saturday February 11
LES SOIRÉES LOTO-QUÉBEC: THE PLACE TO ROCK OUT!
The Québec Winter Carnival's nightlife programming has the best DJs in the region to bring music to your ears. A place to rendezvous for those who wish to celebrate, every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m., at the Bonhomme's Palace! January 28. This will be THE winter party, with shows specifically designed for this evening, which will vibrate to the beat of a star DJ!  A one-off evening, not to be missed!
THE LOTO-QUÉBEC FERRIS WHEEL: A FRONT ROW SEAT

Come and enjoy a unique experience by taking a ride on an outdoor Ferris wheel in the middle of winter! Located in Place Loto-Québec, the Ferris wheel has 15 baskets which can seat up to 60 people. When night falls, it lights up in all its splendour and floods the site with its colours.
UNIPRIX’S ICE SLIDE: GUARANTEED THRILLS
Come and rocket down Unprix’s Ice Slide which is 120 metres long, located at the entrance to Place Desjardins. You will see all the colours!
ARTIC SPAS VILLAGE: A CONTRAST OF RELAXING TEMPERATURES
Hot tubs at the Carnival? Mais oui! Amidst the trees of Village Arctic Spas, carnival-goers will find three hot tubs along with a sauna where they can enjoy a winter rest. Don’t forget your bathing suit, tuque (hat) and towel (all three are mandatory).
TELUS INTERNATIONAL SNOW SCULPTURE CONTEST
Place Desjardins will gradually transform, before the eyes of visitors, into a giant open-air museum. Coming from Québec, Canada and around the world, the sculptors create figurative or abstract works of art from individual themes. The Québec and Canadian competitions will be held from January 27 to 29 while the international competition will be held from January 31 to February 5.
